Businesses burn

Two Stigler businesses located in the same area burned to the ground Thursday night, and whether they will ever reopen remains in question.
C&B Mats & Uniforms and Pam's Powder Keg, 1705 Old Military Road, went up in flames, leaving little but rubble behind.
"We rolled out at 8:45 p.m.," said Southside Fire Chief Chris Pugh. "It was pretty well engulfed by then."
Firefighters from the Stigler and Keota Volunteer Fire Departments joined Southside at the blaze, working through the night to contain the flames. "There were some other buildings nearby and we had to keep them from catching fire too," Pugh said. (more on this story in this week's Stigler News Sentinel)

First National Bank representatives Chuck Forrester, left, and Judy Harrell, right, present Kay Box of KI BOIS Community Action Foundation with a check to kick off this year's Salvation Army fundraising campaign in Haskell County. The campaign is to help people in the county with utility bills and all money raised from it remains in the county. Bell ringers for the Salvation Army campaign will be at the Stigler Walmart each day from Dec. 1 to Dec. 24. Volunteers to ring the bells are always needed, Box said. To volunteer or just to get more information, contact Box at the KI BOIS office, 918-967-3325.
