A lot more than a newspaper

News Sentinel Inc. is more diversified and has more employees than most people are aware

We are a printing and publishing company, employing 27 people and running a variety of different businesses. We publish the Stigler News Sentinel, The Country Star, The Lake Eufaula Property Guide and the Haskell County Telephone Directory — but more than 66 percent of our revenue comes from other sources, particularly printing.

We print a variety of area, regional, statewide and national newspapers and other publications and freestanding inserts.

The acquisition of digital presses has given us the added capability of printing high quality newsletters, brochures, booklets, calendars and direct mail pieces as well as forms, letterheads and other pieces.

Each year our customers push us to provide more services for them. Our six graphic artists, in addition to supporting our businesses, are being asked to do pure graphic design work for our customers.

Our customers are also pushing us to perform mail fulfillment services. Many of our customers want a full-service printer. They count on us to design it, print it and mail it. We are required to purchase and utilize programming that ties us in to the U.S. Postal Service database so we can verify and correct postal listings. This also requires us to purchase and utilize mail fulfillment equipment.

We see these trends continuing to challenge us to meet the new customer demands and find employees who can assume these new responsibilities.
